4 day Matterhorn course

1 to 1 guiding to get the best training to be ready to climb this iconic mountain. The program includes climbing with alpine boots, downclimbing skills and a night at a mountain hut in altitude to get acclimated.

Period - Itinerary

JUL - AUG - SEP

Day 1 - meet in Zermatt at 7.30 am, take the lift to Klein Matterhorn, climb Pollux 4092 mts by the South-West ridge, overnight at Guide Val d'Ayas hut at 3400 mts.

Day 2 - climb the Breithorn half-traverse 4164 mts and back to Zermatt with the lift. Night in your hotel.

Day 3 - take the lift to Schwartzsee and a short hike (1½ hours) to the Hörnlihütte 3260 mts. Night in the hut.

Day 4 - wake up 3.40 am and climb the Matterhorn! 4478 mts and back to Zermatt.

This is for you if you have climbed other 4000 meter peaks, are comfortable climbing rock with crampons, can climb 50° ice slopes safe and grade IV rock with backpack and alpine boots.

Matterhorn 4478m express 

Climb this iconic mountain, the suisse Toblerone. You're already well acclimated and you have a solid alpine experience. You have done your training days and you're ready to go directly to the mountain.

Spaghetti Tour (5 days)

This tour starts and ends in Zermatt, but we spend most nights in Italian huts. On the way we climb several 4000 meter peaks like Breithorn, Castor, Naso del Lyskamm, Pyramid Vincent, Signalkuppe and maybe more. This tour is adapted to 4 people for 1 guide.

Period - Itinerary

JUN - JUL - AUG - SEP

Day 1 - We meet in Zermatt in the morning, check last details (gear, backpack, etc) and take the lift to Klein Matterhorn, climb the Breithorn 4164 mts and head to the Guides d'Ayas hut.

Day 2 - Today we climb the Castor 4223 mts and traverse the ridge to the Quintino Sella hut.

Day 3 - We climb over the Naso del Lyskamm 4272 mts and then climb the Pyramid Vincent 4215 mts on our way to Gnifetti hut.

Day 4 - Our highest summit of the trip is the Signalkuppe 4554 mts where stands the highest hut in the Alps, the Margherita hut. Then we descend to the Monte Rosa hut in Switzerland.

Day 5 - Last day to hike back to Rotenboden and take the alpine train to Zermatt. Back around midday.

Difficulty - Is this for you?

  • Technical level 2/5

No major difficulties but you need previous experience on glacier travel, use of crampons on icy slopes up to 45 degrees and not be afraid of sharp ridges.

  • Endurance 3/5

Hike around 6 hours with 1000 meters altitude gain during 5 days in a row. You need to have previous experience in altitude and be acclimatize as from day 1 we will be above 4000 meters and we will sleep above 3000 meters.

Classic 4000 meter peaks

Zermatt is surrounded by many classic 4000 meter peaks, some that can be your first alpine climb and others that involve a solid alpine experience. Breithorn, Dufourspitze, Weisshorn and more

Spicy Spaghetti Tour (4 days)

This version of the classic Spaghetti Tour goes the hard way and climbs difficult peaks on the way like Lyskamm traverse and Dufourspitze. It's a 1:1 guiding ratio and is for people with very solid alpine experience and in very good shape.

JUN - JUL - AUG - SEP

Day 1 - We meet in Zermatt in the morning and take the lift to Klein Matterhorn, climb Pollux 4092m and Castor 4223m and head to the Quintino Sella hut.

Day 2 - We climb the sharp Lyskamm traverse ticking both West 4479m and East 4527m summits and make our way to Gnifetti hut.

Day 3 - Today we climb the highest summit of the Monte Rosa range, the Dufourspitze 4634m via the italian route over the Zumsteinspitze 4563m and then we descend via the swiss route to the Monte Rosa hut.

Day 5 - Last day to hike back to Rotenboden and take the alpine train to Zermatt.

Difficulty - Is this for you?

  • Technical level 3/5

The technical difficulty increases gradually from day 1 to day 3. You have previous experience on AD+/D ridges. You can climb grade III+ rock on crampons and very sharp snow rigdes with total security.

  • Endurance 5/5

You have to be very fit to do the first 3 big days on schecky alpine terrain and in altitude in a row. You run long distances regulary and you need to be acclimatized.
